Berlin What’s your Flavour? 3

The Carnival of Cultures, takes place in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. It is a multicultural festival that has been celebrated around the Whitsun weekend every year since 1996.

Spinx Media have been covering this Carnival for the past 3 years and was invited for the second consecutive year to provide its unique style of film coverage for Carnival Explosion Mas band road march.

Every year the band chooses a distinguished theme that reflects the beauty and energy of Caribbean Culture, in particular Trinidad & Tobago (T&T), the home of Carnival. Their theme was called “Sno Cones” and it was accompanied with the slogan “What’s your flavour?”. For those who don’t know what a Sno Cone is, they are syrup flavoured shaved ice served in a paper cone or foam cup.

These are sold to the public by Sno Cone vendors in Trinidad and Tobago particularly on a very hot day.

Carnival Explosion female costume reflected the different flavours of Sno Cones, hence the slogan “Whats Your Flavour” and the men masqueraders were the Sno Cone vendors.  They were accessorized with gold chains and caps mirroring the vendors in T&T.  Overlooking the band from the truck, the Carnival Explosion masqueraders reflected a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours and faces.

Berlin’s vibrant Carnival is an international celebration of diversity where you can participate in parades, music, dance, theatre, exotic food and drink and also a wide variety of arts and crafts.

With over 1.3 mill. participants, the Carnival of Cultures has become a trademark for Berlin and  transforms the Kreuzberg district into Germany’s biggest multicultural hotspot.

From Friday to Monday the area around Blücherplatz in Kreuzberg becomes one very happy, loud and lavish party.

The road experience with Carnival Explosion was top notch and the masqueraders were taken on a musical journey with an all star line up of international DJs, the Soca Twins (German) Barney Milah (Germany), DJ Markee (London) D-One (Amsterdam) and Major Lazer’s very own Walshy Fire mixing the very best of the new and old Soca hits.

It was indeed another fantastic road march experience for the Carnival Explosion Masqueraders and Spinx Media was once again on hand to provide you with the best inside and exclusive film coverage of the entire experience.
